5000 Miles Campaign

In 2023 I embarked on a journey to run 1000 miles by the end of the year. 600 miles into this goal I decided to turn my challenge into a VFW fundraiser and Veteran recognition program. In those last 400 miles over $2600 was raised, 8 Veterans were featured and my running goal was achieved ahead of schedule on November 11th…Veteran’s Day. What started as a personal quest developed into a campaign. It was an amazing adventure and the outpouring of support and encouragement was incredible.

In 2024 I will be once again challenging myself to a goal, but this time using all 316 days until Veterans Day to raise money and recognition. On January 1st I began a 5000-mile journey to Veteran’s Day. The majority of the miles will be achieved by bicycle, some will be running, but ALL will be powered by my own 2 legs.

I began this journey as a one-girl revolution, but have recruited others to join the effort and am actively building a team. Through fundraising and Veteran focus we hope to revitalize and restore the VFW’s mission and purpose in a little town aptly named, New Freedom. Our immediate goal is to make Post 7012 the heart of our community and the plan to build a new facility is step 1. We are seeking donors, sponsors and Veterans willing to be featured on my 5000-mile journey.

Donations can be made directly at vfwpost7012.org, individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring the 5000-mile journey to Veteran’s Day can contact me at newfreedomvfw@yahoo.com. If you are a Veteran or would like to recommend a Veteran to be featured in my dedication segment, contact me at newfreedomvfw@yahoo.com.
