Happy 2025 and Happy Snow Day… we have a busy winter month planned for our members in January. The Post is closed today, but here is a list of updates, reminders, and events.

Update:

As many members and guests may have noticed, one of our canteen staff is “with child”. Our Sweet Ashley will be taking time off after January in preparation for her daughter’s arrival in March. We invite you to shower Ashley and her family with love and support in the Canteen on Sunday, January 12th between 2 and 7:00.

Reminders:

The Wreath Matching campaign for the 2025 Wreaths Across America ends on January 17th. Thank you for helping to make the 2024 campaign a success, we invite you to invest in honoring our Veterans in 2025.

Our Coats of Friendship collection bin will be in the canteen vestibule until January 30th. Donate gently used jackets, coats, and winter gear to those in need in York County.

Available for purchase in the canteen…. Post 7012 Commemorative Challenge Coins and R.E.D. t-shirts

The newly renovated Post 7012 hall is available to rent in 2025 for members and non-members alike. Our space is perfect for large events and gatherings and provides options for bar service and catering. We hope you will consider or recommend us for future rental opportunities.

The commemorative brick sale for our future location is still in progress. Order a brick in honor or memory of a Veteran OR one that shows your support as a business or family/friend of VFW Post 7012. See the attached flyer for details on ordering/purchasing and the accompanying picture to see what brick placement plans are for our future location. The “Patriot Garden” section will honor military service members and be designed to bloom throughout the growing season with predominantly red, white, and blue flowers.

We are collecting military unit patches to display at our current and future locations. If you want to donate a patch, drop it off with the canteen staff.

We are accepting new members at Post 7012. Applicants do not have to be Veterans or have a Veteran family member to join the VFW. Stop by the canteen to apply for membership as a Veteran of a Foreign War (Regular Member), a direct family member of a Veteran of a Foreign War (Auxiliary Member), or as someone without military service or association (Social Member).

Events:

This week-

Tuesday, January 7th: The first Auxiliary Members meeting of 2025. All Auxiliary Members are encouraged to attend and participate. Auxiliary-sponsored events and community outreach programs are planned and discussed during these monthly meetings and your input and involvement are appreciated and necessary in making them a success.

Wednesday, January 8th: The return of our Acoustic Jam Session with Jessie and Friends from 6:30-9 in the Blades Dining Room. This weekly and free event is open to all acoustic musicians, singers, and fans of live music (non-members will be signed in as Jessie’s guests)

Thursday, January 9th: the first Home Association meeting of the year. Open to all members of Post 7012…these monthly meetings provide the opportunity for members to ask questions, offer input, stay informed, and be involved with plans and procedures for Post 7012. All are encouraged to attend

Saturday, January 11th: Cash Bingo at 7:00. Open to everyone, bring your friends and family to play. 10 regular games and one special game. Cards are $1 each or 30 for $25 for the regular games and $5/card for the Special Finale game. Come early for dinner and drinks- no one likes to win on an empty stomach.

Sunday, January 12th: Brunch Buffet from 11:00-2 for $10.99
