Welcome to the first August edition of the Monday Newsletter…there’s much to catch up on so here goes:
🎟️130 Raffle drawings were held over the weekend and here are the results:
The next round of drawings and the dinner for the current campaign will be September 7th. All ticketholders should have received an email with information about the next campaign cycle… it will become a 150 Raffle and Feed beginning 10.1.25. Ticket price is still $35 but payouts will total $1500. If you are a ticketholder and have not received the updated information please contact Janet Locher at 717.968.8505. If you would like to be a ticketholder, please contact her to be added to the list.
🗓️August Calendar: (quick access to the following information is available under the “calendar” tab of this website)
🪕Every Wednesday from 6-9:00-Bluegrass in the Blades. Taking place in the Blades Dining Room, this weekly event is available to acoustic musicians, singers, and fans of bluegrass music. Non-members will be signed in as guests.
🤠Every Thursday from 6-11:00, Line Dancing with Kyrsten in the Upstairs Dance Hall. Come for the instruction, open dance time, or to be a spectator. Post 7012 provides a Concession Stand and Beverage/Bar Service during this event. Doors open at 6:00 for dinner before dancing. No outside food or drink permitted, cash only.
🏠Thursday, August 14th at 7:00 in the Blades Dining Room…Home Association Meeting. Open to all members of Post 7012, these monthly meetings provide the opportunity for members to ask questions, offer input, stay informed, and be involved with plans and procedures for Post 7012. All are encouraged to attend.
📺Friday, August 15th at 7:00 in the Canteen… Sitcom Trivia Night. 📺 You’re Invited to Sitcom Trivia Night! 🎉 Think you know your Friends from your Office coworkers? Can you quote Seinfeld or name every member of the Big Bang Theory crew? Then grab your fellow TV buffs and join us for a night of laughter, memories, and brain-busting trivia! Costumes and team names encouraged! Don’t change the channel—this is one trivia night you won’t want to miss! 🎬🍿
👚If you ordered a VFW Day t-shirt, the expected delivery will be the week of August 18th.
💰Saturday, August 23rd: Cash Bingo in the upstairs Bingo Hall. Doors open for dinner and refreshment at 5:00, games begin at 7:00 .
🪖Thursday, August 28th: Regular Members (Combat Veterans) Meeting at 7:00 in the Blades Dining Room. All Regular Members (Combat Vets) are encouraged to attend to receive important information and updates, and to aid in voting and making decisions for matters related to Post 7012.
🅿️Friday, August 29th: Auxiliary Members will be stationed at the 83 Rest Area to greet travelers and provide refreshment. Interstate 83 is designated as the “Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Memorial Highway” in all of Pennsylvania and we are proud to have the Auxiliary representing Post 7012 at the first northbound Rest Area.
🌲It’s already time to think about Wreaths Across America. Please see the attached flyer for dates and information on how to sponsor a wreath and receive credit towards additional wreaths.
👷♂️Many of our members have reported driving by or visiting the construction site of our future location, and we love hearing the excitement and progress reports! If you visit, be sure to tell the workers how much Post 7012 appreciates their hard work. Feel free to also snap a picture and submit it to be featured in our online album so members near and far can experience the chronological construction of our new home. 🍴Our newly renovated hall is available to rent and now offers catering and bar service. Consider our space for your next event and share this flyer when you hear of anyone looking for a venue.
🍽️ Gather your group for dinner tonight….Our friends New Freedom Family Restaurant are offering a 10% discount every Monday from 4-8:00 for all VFW Post 7012 Members. Present your Membership card to receive the discount
