Memorial Day Recognition for my Uncle, Charles Michael Thompson, “Ike”

The significance of Memorial Day 2024… AND reaching the 1/2 way milestone on my 5000 mile journey in the same month…provides the perfect opportunity for me to honor someone who lost their life in service to his country… my Uncle Ike.

I never got to meet my Uncle, he was Killed in Action the year before I was born… but his name was, and still is, spoken often by his family, those who served with him, and in the community where he lived.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice… we may have never met, but I am proud to have a connection to those the VFW was founded to support. Forever grateful for those we honor and remember on this Memorial Day 🇺🇸
